Telegraph Lunch

December 14, 2007 / by domsumners

Had a lovely Xmas meal courtesy of the Telegraph yesterday at Lanesborough. A mix of recruitment, travel and property ad agencies and i (as representing OME) was definitely the newbie in the room.

Some interesting random thoughts from the event

  • You have to hand it to the Telegraph they are shaking/have shaken off the caricature image of their reader as a retired Colonel getting hot under the collar about the decline of the nation's youth. They have a large and diverse audience (and even more so online)
  • They have been almost zealots about pushing "digital" in all its editorial, display, classifieds and this has paid/is paying dividends
  • Most other agencies i talked to just dont do the optimization work that is the bulk of the hard graft that we do for our clients. The vast majority of their time and effort is spent on site builds, creatives and innovations.
  • Its not a criticism - its just another example of the amount of opportunities there are out there and the different ways suppliers can offer added value.

2008 - will be another seismic year for recruitment advertising!
