Social Networking Sites

May 15, 2007 / by domsumners

I reckon the most valuable advice we offer companies is how not to waste their money online. OME spend loads of time discussing social networks, referral networks and associated topics and while there is nothing wrong with effective use of these sites its all about working out what you want to get out of the campaign. Normally for many organisations its about quality response and ROI. To achieve  this, most organisations need to do the following things in rough order of priority:

  • Recruitment Process (careers site, ATS etc)
  • Job seeker candidate attraction (job boards etc)
  • Search Engine Marketing
  • Online innovation (Second Life etc)
So its absolutely great to put a viral marketing campaign out  there of your Managing Director dancing the Macarena and be nominated for an award but
  • have you got an efficient application process and candidate experience?
  • are you on the right sites with the right ads?
  • are you using the search engines effectively?
if the answer to any of these is NO - then leave your adventures on YouTube till 2008
