Hands up who has mentioned Second Life in conversation and has never been onto the site or explored further - its safe to admit it here as its only me and my mum who come here on a regular basis (1500 users and rising!!).
Its time for me to look foolish again if i look back on this blog in a couple of years time but here goes - SecondLife - i dont get it. Or to be more precise i dont get the claims that it will be the next big thing and its internal economy will be the size of the UK's GDP in a year or so.
It smacks of a very cool idea and entity that is being hyped to the nines by the web 2.0 evangelists in our present dot coom boom. User numbers are really low (25,000 globally online right now) and there is not the compelling reason to join up that has driven the YouTube, MySpace explosion.
Maybe i am just too old for it.and by the way, here is the link to the wikipedia definition so that you come across knowledgably at the next party in that Clerkenwell loft.
