Brothers in Arms

Met up with Tim and Alastair from Enhance last week - officially they are our only real direct competition but the reality is theirs is a massively different organisation in terms of services and business model and also this gap in the market is so vast that there will be 10 other "competitors" in it over the next 18 months. So it will be friendly rivalry with them at best.
It did make me think about who are the competitors - the answer to which is

  • a lot of the time we are under the radar and do not tender for business like normal ad agencies. We are recommended and solve problems that clients did not know there were solutions for.
  • Definitely the fat full service agency - who still make most of their client margin from traditional media commissions.
  • Clients going to websites direct - i don't think so. A client tends to reach the point where they do not wish to be receiving objective advice from their Monster account handler - and that's where we come in.
  • The Contingency Recruitment Agency eg High St body shops - Definitely but and this is a big BUT - its not just about candidate attraction here - its about recruitment process too and an integrated approach to online recruitment - that's how to radically reliance on above and save on cost per hire.
